Four Seasons Art and Collectibles began 5 years ago with the diverse collections of several partners whose careers allowed them to pursue their interest in art.
One has a background as a graphic artist just as did the pioneers of pop art. The other partners shared her affinity for the pop art movement started by Andy Warhol and followed by protégé Steve Kaufman and others, as well as the work of urban and street artists like Keith Haring. We have been especially supportive of the work of street artist Dillon Boy as he was creating social commentary with his less-than-reverent depictions of cultural icons. Those movements remain vital, carrying on the traditions started by Warhol and Haring, and representing a large and growing part of our gallery.
Another of us has had the privilege of living for many years in China. Through his efforts to find older works of art and to seek out and support working artists before there were art markets and galleries, our collection reflects the transformation of Chinese art from the days prior to the destructive Cultural Revolution through today. The changes are dramatic and are sure to continue as China becomes more and more of a global art center.
Still another of us especially enjoyed the outdoors and was drawn to collect the work of artists like John James Audubon and John Gould who depicted birds and other wildlife in their natural habitats. Birds and other wildlife remain fascinating subjects for art and photography for those that enjoy the great outdoors.
And all were fortunate enough to combine work lives with exploring the great cities and museums of Europe. One cannot do so without being stunned by the works of artists like Picasso, Dali, Monet, Miro, Chagall, and others. While their original paintings are largely the province of museum collections, the rapid advances in printing technology during the 20th Century, spurred by these same artists and their ateliers, ensured that all of us could collect and enjoy lithographs and other prints of their incredible work.
Our collection on the Four Seasons Art and Collectibles web site will continue to grow and expand, not only including the great artists of yesterday and today, but also those that emerge in the years to come. We welcome your visit to our collection, and hope you enjoy exploring it and that you find it matches your own interests.
