During his 84-year life, Eyvind Earle established himself as one of America’s greatest artists. Early in his career, he joined the Walt Disney studios, where his art was featured in numerous Disney productions, includingSleeping Beauty,Peter Pan,and Lady and the Tramp. His dioramas are featured in the Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland. For his work in animation for Disney and other entertainment media, Earle was given a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998. He has also been honored by being named one of the Disney Legends. In the 1940s, Earle began to paint landscapes that were later transformed into Christmas cards, which have sold over 300 million copies and, in many cases, become collector’s items. In 1966, Eyvind Earle returned to painting on a full-time basis, and created masterpieces that have been featured in museums and fine art collections, been the subject of books, and transformed into limited edition prints that now grace many homes and collections. Among the many museums which feature his art is the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
